4.1 Storage Location

4.2 Document Security & Data Retention

Your documents are secure with us:

  • Original files deleted immediately: We delete uploaded PDF or DOCX files right after extracting the text — usually within seconds of upload
  • Only parsed text retained: We keep only the extracted text content needed for grading, not the original document files
  • Complete deletion on request: When you delete an essay from your account, all records — including extracted text and grading results — are permanently removed
  • Account data: Retained while your account is active
  • Essay files: Automatically deleted immediately after text extraction is completed
  • Grading results: Retained until you delete them. You can delete any essay at any time.
  • Billing records: Retained by our payment processor (Stripe) as required for legal and tax compliance

5. Data Sharing

5.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We share information with trusted third parties:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (read their Privacy Policy)
  • Anthropic: AI grading — essay text only
  • Linode: Hosting and data storage

5.2 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
